HITACHI PLANS EXPANSION OF MALAYSIAN OPERATIONS

Hitachi Ltd plans a substantial expansion of its operations in Malaysia, saying that as well as starting assembly of 1M-bit memory chips there – at a rate of 10,000 a month – it plans to begin making microcomputers and diodes: Malaysia will be Hitachi’s fourth chip base after Japan, Europe and the US.
