HITACHI MAXELL TO PRODUCE 300M 3.5″ FLOPPIES A MONTH AT SAN DIEGO PLANT

As with personal computers, so with 3.5 hard shell floppy disk media – Japanese companies are rushing to manufacture the things in North America now that IBM has given the form factor its seal of approval on the Personal System/2: Hitachi Maxell will start producing 300m 3.5 floppies a month at its San Diego plant this month, Sony Corp says that it will start turning out 200m to 300m per month at its Alabama plant this summer, Kao Corp has already started producing the things in Canada, and Fuji Film Co and TDK Inc are also talking about making floppy disks in the US.
