Hitachi Ltd has launched its HT-2372 NetMaster III – a personal computer with detachable screen, which is designed to be carried as a portable terminal or electronic notebook, ready for use as a B5-size 2 lbs 3 oz portable unit for sales work, presentation and simulation of what-ifs at the customer’s premises; this is a successor model to the NetMaster I and II, the first model of which was released in 1987; the base unit, into which the portable unit is placed, has an optical cable interface, which is the means of transmitting data from the home station; the portable models have a built-in V26-bis or V22 modem; Hitachi is hoping to sell 30,000 of the things over the next three years.
