Hitachi Europe Ltd yesterday dismissed a story in Computing magazine sug-gesting that it wanted Comparex Information Systems to take over National Advanced Systems as untrue; according to Hitachi’s Robert Brignell, such a move is simply not going to happen – and that’s categorical; Brignell did, however, admit that having Comparex, NAS and Olivetti marketing the same things to the same people was not ideal, but, he added, there’s not a lot we can do about it now; he firmly rejected the article’s assertion that Hitachi had a preferred supplier; a spokesman for NAS, meanwhile, described the article as absolute rubbish; Brian Walker said there is no substance at all in the report; Brian Moroney of Comparex was not however so dismissive – it’s quite interesting, isn’t it?, he said before refusing to comment further.
