Hitachi Ltd has developed the Hitcas Hitachi Satellite Communication Aided Education Network System, which started operation at the end of last month, delivering remote education to classrooms via satellite: the system is designed to solve the problem of training new computer engineers and salespeople in outlying areas of Japan, through the use of terminals and a keypad for real-time communications between teacher and student; the system uses the Hitachi 2050 workstation, the system software being controlled by one-touch operation of a touch panel; the courses will be operated from centres in locations in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka, and has been introduced to be ready for the start of the new national fiscal year in April, when many new graduates start their careers with the major companies.
