HITACHI BLAMES THE STRONG YEN

By CBR Staff Writer

Hitachi Ltd blamed its fall in consolidated profits – page five – on the strong yen and slow demand for computers and electric appliances: the company is now forecasting net profit for the full year of $550m where it had looked for $740m, which would have been a slight increase on the $714m of last year; turnover is also now forecast to decline, by about 3% to $67,436m.
