Hitachi Ltd has begun marketing a new document architecture for its M-series mainframes supporting its 2050 workstations: the architecture implements an icon-driven document file transfer user interface on the 2050 and the elements are MIA and MCA – M for Manuscript in place of Document in IBM’s DIA and DCA perhaps? – and the Hoaplink/ES software for the host rents for $1,300 a month, while the terminal software on the 2050 is $525.
