HITACHI AND PIONEER OPTICAL DISK DRIVES CONFORM TO THE ISO STANDARD

Hitachi Ltd and Pioneer Corp are both now serious about eraseable 5.25 optical disk drives conforming to the newly agreed ISO standards: Hitachi’s M301S is a fixed drive with access time of less than 100 milliseconds and capacity of 640Mb, with a sample price of $4,857; the Pioneer’s drive can be mounted horizontally or vertically, has 70mS access time and stores 600Mb, costing $6,428.
