HIGH DEFINITION TV: US REJECTS JAPANESE STANDARD

In June, IBM, AT&T, Apple, Hewlett, were named to an Advanced TV Task Force (CI No 946) to put up a high-definition standard; now the Federal Communications Commission has set ground rules: the signal must use the same bands as and be re-ceivable (degraded) on today’s TVs.
