Hewlett-Packard Ltd and Racal Research have teamed on an Alvey project to develop a secure computer network messaging system using the X400 electronic mail standard to link Hewlett-Packard’s Lap-Top portables to the Racal Vodafone cellular telephone network. The three-stage project is part of the Alvey directorate’s Mobile Information Systems Large Scale Demonstrator programme and will involve Hewlett-Packard’s Bristol centre and Racal-Milgo Ltd in Reading, Berkshire.
