HEWLETT PIONEERS PRIVATE PACKET NETWORKS IN JAPAN

The Yokogawa-Hewlett Packard Co joint venture will pioneer the concept of the private packet-switched network in Japan. Up to now only public packet services, from Nippon Telegraph & Telephone and Kokusai Denshin Denwa were available. The company is using packet switches developed by Hewlett-Packard France and systems are $390,000 to $4.7m.
