Hewlett-Packard Co has announced OpenView Harmoni, a development system intended to help telecommunications organisations develop Customer Network Management services. The product is an extension of the OpenView Distributed Management open network management system, and is claimed to extend telecommunications service and network management facilities to subscribers’ premises, and all network components can be integrated into the system, it says. Hewlett-Packard is pitching the product particularly at carriers wanting to offer value-added services to their customers, and to differentiate their services from competitive offerings. It says the system was jointly developed by its own Singapore Networks Operation, and Telecom Australia over the last two years, with Telecom Australia using its telecommunications expertise, combined with Hewlett’s computer, data communications and network management knowledge. It will be ready next month and Customer Network Management consulting services will be offered to help speed development of applications and services.
