Hewlett-Packard Co wants to drive its massively successful inkjet printer technology even harder, and yesterday announced the formation of a new business unit dedicated to forming partnerships with third parties wanting to exploit the use of its technology. The new Specialty Printing Systems Operation, will report to HP’s inkjet supplies business unit. Specialty Printing Systems Operation is chartered to work with third parties to modify and apply Hewlett-Packard products for new applications in markets not currently addressed by Hewlett- Packard, the company said. Dramatic advances in thermal inkjet technology now provide significant opportunities to apply this technology to a wide range of complementary printing applications and markets, the company added.
