HEWLETT-PACKARD TO ADD MORE UNIX STATIONS

By CBR Staff Writer

Two months after it launched a whole series of business and scientific machines, Hewlett Packard Co is set to introduce two more workstation models this month in the Motorola 68000m family HP9000 Series 300 Series of Unix workstations, according to Electronic News. Replacing the Model 330, the new 9000 Model 360 will have a similar price, but have approximately twice the power of the older system: it uses a 25MHz 68030 processor and MC68882 floating point unit, and memory will be expandable from 4Mb to 16Mb. Also to be launched is the HP9000/319SRX, a low-cost worksta tion said to be suitable for three-dimensional wireframe graphics, likely to cost under $10,000. At the same time, Hewlett will upgrade its printed circuit design software to add support for surface-mount technology, and integration with the firm’s design capture system.
