Following its strategic partnership deal with Division Group Plc announced yesterday, Hewlett-Packard Co now has a strategic OEM agreement with Evans & Sutherland Computer Corp that encompasses long-term marketing and technology development and the delivery of advanced graphics workstations. Under the terms of the agreement, Evans & Sutherland will develop and build high-performance graphics accelerators, which Hewlett-Packard will incorporate into its HP 9000 Series 700 workstation line and sell and support worldwide. The first products will incorporate Evans & Sutherland’s Freedom Series graphics accelerators and support the HP-UX operating system and selected graphics application programming interfaces including PEXlib and OpenGL. Evans & Sutherland will provide the OpenGL Applications Programming Interface for the accelerators. The Freedom Series is expected to be available in the fourth quarter on high-end Series 700 workstations. Support for PEXlib on the Freedom Series is not expected to be available from Hewlett-Packard until sometime during next year.
