Hewlett-Packard Co has announced three entry-level 10Base-T hubs and a new Simple Network Management Protocol management module. At the low end is the AdvanceStack Hub-8E, which offers eight RJ45 ports and a single BNC port and is to cost $200. Next up is the Hub-8U, priced at $300, which comes with the same port configuration, but is upgradeable to Simple Network Management Protocol-manageability through the new Simple Network Management Protocol module. It also features a transceiver slot for connection to TP, AUI, BND, or fiber optic backbones. The 16U is the same as the 8U but with 16 10Base-T ports and is to cost $580. Finally the SNMP module, for use in the last two hubs, is to cost $500 and is said to feature a full SNMP agent, which can be managed remotely via dial-in external modem or Telnet. Hewlett is also offering the 8U and 16U models bundled with the module for $600 and $1,000 respectively. All models ship in May.
