Hewlett-Packard Co has acquired Computing and Measurement Systems, a subsidiary of Israeli company Mars Information Products Group Ltd which distributes and services HP computer systems and test and measurement equipment in Israel. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. HP made the acquisition, on undisclosed terms, because it wanted a direct presence in Israel. It says it will restructure all the elements of the Tel Aviv- based company’s operations in Israel, combining it with the existing HP marketing office in Herzliya, and taking on around 150 CMS employees. The acquired company will become a wholly owned subsidiary. HP said it would continue to work with Mars for distribution and support of computer products and peripherals. It hopes to have closed the deal by the end of July.
