HEWLETT-PACKARD DENIES ALTERNATE UNIX STANDARDS STRATEGY

Industry rumours that Hamilton Groupies Apollo Computer, DEC and Hewlett-Packard Co were near to revealing an alternate Unix standards strategy to that of AT&T were denied this week by Hewlett-Packard; a separate Computer Systems News report suggested that an AT&T move to appease the Group by offering to form an OEM user group with special access to Unix developments had been rejected as inadequate.
