The two companies will, according to reports, establish an HP-Red Flag Linux laboratory at HP’s existing facilities in Beijing and a Linux distribution center will be created by both companies, providing services for local Linux users and distributors.
Red Flag will also work with HP on product quality control, sales, application research and support services, and management training.
The deal, expected to expand across the Asia Pacific region, follows an agreement for Red Flag to jointly promote development of Itanium 2 with HP announced in May. The companies are also working with BEA Systems Inc, Oracle Corp and Intel Corp.
Red Flag is also working with Oracle to certify and support database management systems in China.
