Hewlett-Packard Co has reportedly been touting its future 64-bit HP-UX Unix around the industry. US trade paper InformationWeek says Hewlett-Packard has been sounding out competitors Digital Equipment Corp, IBM Corp, Motorola Inc, Silicon Graphics Inc and Sun Microsystems Inc about replacing their Unixes for what it dubbed the White Box operating system. From what we hear, Hewlett-Packard’s advances have either been rebuffed or did not happen.
