Hewitt came to Novell in February 2005 to be the company’s chief marketing officer and in March 2006, when Novell changed a lot of executive positions, Hewitt was given the keys to the Asia-Pacific unit.

He came to Novell after being in charge of global marketing and lead generation at the former PeopleSoft, which was acquired by Oracle Corp in January 2005. Prior to that, he held senior marketing roles at Hyperion Solutions and IBM Corp.

Prior to Hewitt’s taking over the AP unit, Rhonda O’Donnell, who had been running Novell’s Asia-Pacific operations since Novell acquired Cambridge Technology Partners in 2001, was president of the unit. Last March, she was elevated to the role of non-executive chairman of Novell Asia/Pacific. O’Donnell will take over Hewitt’s duties until a replacement is found, Novell said in a statement.
