Henry Blodget has been anointed to the throne of internet analyst at Merrill Lynch in New York, having made his name recently with his prediction of $400 per share for Amazon.com Inc in one year, only to see it achieved in 14 trading days in December and January (12/17/98). Blodget will leave his position at CIBC Oppenheimer to take up the post, which has been vacant since Jonathan Cohen left to join Wit Capital Corp. Cohen wasn’t in the post too long, having taken it over from Bruce Smith.
