The installation of Omnicell’s MedGuard products will give us a sophisticated tool to improve our medication-use process, said Chuck Cooper, pharmacy director of Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC). This will help us increase patient safety and staff productivity and improve management of controlled substances.
OmniRx medication dispensing cabinets will be installed throughout the medical center and emergency department, while the hospital’s central pharmacy will install Omnicell SecureVault software to enable it to monitor the movement of controlled substances from a central vault to other locations. It is hoped that this will improve compliance with regulatory standards, increase efficiency for the pharmacy and improve administrative decision-making.
