Healtheon Corp, the latest venture from Netscape and SGI founder Jim Clark, has launched its super-vertical consumer internet portal for health care information and transaction services. The idea is to link all participants in health care: patients, doctors, employers, brokers, health plans, hospitals, pharmacies and labs. The portal throws in access to medical dictionaries and encyclopedias, while a medical database search aggregates results from sources traditional search engines can’t access, the better to cater to the hypochondriac in us all. Healtheon’s content partners include: WB Saunders Company, Citizen 1, ADAM, Lexical Technology Inc and the New York Times Syndicate. Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers and New Enterprise Associates have thrown their cash and weight behind the venture. á
