Once a physician is activated on SureScripts’ electronic prescribing network, HMS will receive the prescriber’s identifier for electronic prescribing and integrate it into its physician database. The firms say this will enable more efficient updates to physician files at pharmacies.
With more and more physicians getting connected for e-prescribing every day, we want to make it as easy as possible for pharmacists to identify and verify these new electronic prescribers, said Bob Beckley, SVP of pharmacy relations and product strategy at SureScripts. Integrating SureScripts provider information with the HMS Provider Master File does just that by giving pharmacies an automated means of updating newly connected physicians in their pharmacy database.
Health Market Science manufactures healthcare provider data in the US. Its provider master file includes reference information for over 4.5 million individual providers and 1 million healthcare organizations.
