Hindustan Computers Pte Ltd’s HCL America Inc in Sunnyvale, California says that it is devoting more resources on creating multiprocessor adaptations of Unix operating systems and that it is currently active in the development of Unix-based multiprocessor systems for specific vertical markets, in particular telecommunications, insurance, manufacturing, banking and retail that have a burgeoning need for a multiprocessor industry standard operating system and database management system in transaction and fault-tolerant processing enviroments. In addition to multiprocessor capability, data integrity schemes and automated programming tools are high priorities and getting attention from the company, which claims over 1,000 man-years of Unix expertise, and is a Unix International member.
