Indian IT services company HCL has won a contract from UK-based Anglo American to deliver IT services for the mining company’s global businesses.
HCL will use its hybrid on-premise and cloud delivery models to provide end users with data centre and hosting services, local area network and security management and other on-site IT services.
Anglo American’s CTO and head of global infrastructure David Heppenstall said he is confident HCL will become an "effective long term partner" for Anglo American.
Ashish Gupta, VP and head of Infrastructure Services at HCL, added: "This contract reinforces HCL’s focus on developing markets and further cements HCL’s position as the provider of choice for IT Infrastructure Services.
"This deal is also a testimony of our growing strength as the provider of choice for the Gen 2.0 outsourcing market."
HCL said it would leverage its enterprise of the future framework to continuously upgrade and evolve Anglo American’s IT services and infrastructure for users across multiple locations.
HCL recently teamed up with Direct Energy to manage its customer care operations in the Alberta market.
