The journal explained that the hospitals will reap significant benefits from the installation of picture archive communications systems (PACS), which allow physicians to view images such as x-rays or CT scans on a computer screen. Due to its archiving capabilities, the facility also allows physicians to make easy comparisons between recent and older images.

The centers benefiting from the technological upgrade include Baptist-Lutheran Medical Center, the Independence Regional Outpatient Imaging Center, Lafayette Regional Health Center, Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Research Belton Hospital and Research Medical Center.

The article quoted Bryan Rogers, president of HCA Midwest Health System, as saying, The benefits of a PACS system are multifold. We are excited to provide clinicians with a filmless picture archiving system that will significantly improve patient care.
