Harris/Adacomp is seeking software partners to produce applications for SuperNet System – an 80386-based IBM 3174-compatible terminal controller that also runs MS-DOS launched by Harris Corp in August last year (CI No 1,244) since when Unix has been added. The Harris display terminal and controllers division went to Adacomp Inc in January (CI No 1,343), although Harris retained a minority stake, as did venture capitalists, Oak Investment Partners. The new company, based in Winnersh, Wokingham says it wants to develop MS-DOS and Unix applications for vertical markets that already have a considerable investment in the IBM 3270. The SuperNet System which is built around the 80386 processor, offers a gateway between Token Ring and Ethernet, and may support up to 64 local area network users.
