Harris Corporation has been awarded a five-year contract to support the US Department of State, Bureau of Consular Affairs in delivering critical services to US citizens domestically and overseas, and facilitate foreign visitors travelling to the US. The five-year contract, a base year plus four one-year options, is valued at $196.5m and will extend through 2013.

Under the contract, Harris will support the Department of State’s Information Technology (IT) by providing installation, training, help desk and information technology services in support of 270 domestic and international consular operations.

In addition, this contract includes work from Harris’s Department of State, Consular System Support Bureau of Consular Affairs agreement as well as work from other contracts including Department of State Passport Support. Consular operations include embassies and consulates plus passport agencies that provide support to American citizens, immigrant visa and non-immigrant visa applications.

Harris said that it will provide a range of activities from assisting with newly-emerging mission critical requirements to supporting routine administrative needs. Support services include shipping and installing equipment and applications; training; on-site system administration, configuration management and repair; technology upgrades; and help desk support and related services.
