Harris Corporation has introduced Intraplex HD Link for radio broadcasters using the 950MHz band for microwave studio-to-transmitter links.
According to Harris, the Intraplex HD Link provides reliable studio-to-transmitter links (STL) transport for analog and HD radio broadcasters, utilizing the latest RF, audio and digital networking technologies to provide dependable audio links for always on applications.
Harris claims that Intraplex HD Link will offer a straightforward installation and configuration for STL transport of audio, data and voice using a single system. HD Link supports both UDP/IP and the TCP/IP protocols for exporter-to-exciter (E2X) delivery of multimedia services, featuring an integrated IP channel to facilitate HD Radio IP transport alongside lower-priority traffic.
HD Link also offers front panel and remote web interfaces, SNMP networking management and multiple ethernet interfaces for networking flexibility.
Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications, said: The 950MHz band is the preferred STL transport medium for many radio broadcasters due to no-fee spectrum use, protection from conflicting spectrum users and independence from telco service providers. Harris created the 950MHz digital STL market in 1997, and the introduction of HD Link reinforces our leadership in the market with a dependable, wireless multimedia STL service that offers long-term value for radio broadcasters.
