Harris Adacom Network Systems Ltd has laid off 24 people, nearly a quarter of its staff and the Winnersh, Berkshire company has restructered those left in an attempt to hit break-even point; formed last October by Harris Adacom Corp to take advantage of what it thought was a gap in the European market for network controllers, Network Systems started trading in January with a projected turnover of UKP10m but halfway through the year it had done just UKP3.5m of business and so decided to cut its cost base; marketing manager Vic Baldorino said July was the first month the company hit target revenue and it was looking in good shape; Harris Adacom Corp was formed in 1990 when Israeli company Adacom bought the data communications equipment arm of Harris Corp.
