Harris has enhanced its NEXIO server portfolio by adding new product introductions, designed to improve speed, quality and capacity in broadcast playout and production applications.

Harris said that the new introductions to NEXIO server includes Volt, Farad, advanced codec support, production playout centre, and Newsfish application.

NEXIO Volt, a small form-factor, baseband video server equipped with 2 TB of RAID 3-protected integrated media storage, offers support for up to four mixed SD/HD or SD-only baseband channels in a 1RU package.

It also offers software-enabled license keying that allows customers to pay for only the channels and resolutions they need, and upgrade to additional channels or HD at anytime.

The Farad is an online storage system for large-scale ingest, editing and playout for production, sports, news and live-event applications, and is designed for customers requiring around 10,000 Mb/s bandwidth and 58 TB storage capacity.

The company has also introduced ingest and playout support for two new codecs in its NEXIO platform for playout, H.264 video compression standard; and for production, Avid DNxHD ‘mastering’ format for post-editing.

In addition, the company has unveiled production playout center (PPC), an ingest, preparation and playout system, while the Newsfish application enables broadcasters to implement cost-cutting business models.
