Sunnyvale, California-based Harmonic Lightwaves Inc has launched an upgraded version of its NETWatch element management system for broadband networks. The NETWatch system enables cable operators to monitor and control the performance of their systems from a central office or remote location. The company has now added Simple Network Management Protocol compatibility to its NETWatch HEM 5000 software, enabling the integration of transport layer monitoring with higher level network management systems. The company claims that this is the first integrated cable television management system to offer SNMP compatibility. The system begins shipping this month.
