Cisco, Sky join hands to deliver new OTT service, OnPrime TV

Cisco & Sky use OTT services to deliver live streaming app, OnPrime TV in foreign languages.

Cisco and Sky have started working together to deliver a new innovative app-based streaming service, named OnPrime TV, with support from Encompass Digital Media.

The app which is powered by Cisco’s Infinite Video Platform, enables users in the UK, Italy and Germany to access high-quality foreign language film, television and news content.

Cisco is working to build a simplified, automated and virtualised network platform of the future based on industry-leading software, systems, silicon and services to enable service providers, media and web companies worldwide to reduce costs, speed time-to-market, secure their networks and sustain profitable growth.

mobileThe OnPrime TV app includes lives stream from Sky South Asian, which as a pack includes Sony Entertainment TV Asia, Sony Max, Zee TV, Zee Cinema, Zee Punjabi and B4U.

Also in Germany and Italy, is the addition of Star Plus, Star Life OK and Star Gold, whilst in the UK Star TV is available separately with Star Plus, Star Life Ok and Star Gold.

An addition of a Sky Arabic Pack includes channels Rotana Aflam, Rotana Cinema, LBC, Rotana Clip, Rotana Mousica, Rotana Classic and Rotana Khalijia.

Finally, is Sky Russian, which includes THT, Bestseller, Moolt, Planeta HD, 1+1 International, CTC International, Domashiny, Peretz and TV1000 Russian Kino.

The OnPrime TV app can be downloaded via the app store on Apple TV4, or through a search of OnPrime TV on Apple TV3.

Rajeev Raman, Vice president, Strategy and Product Management, SP Applications and Platforms, Cisco said: “OnPrime TV fills the gap in the market for high-quality foreign entertainment available to non-Europe expatriate communities living in Europe.”

Emma Lloyd, Group director of Business development and Strategic partnerships, Sky said: “Cisco’s technological expertise and Encompass’ long-standing history of delivering reliable broadcast solutions, combined with Sky’s strong track record on curating content and streaming to millions of customers, has created an exciting new service.”

All channel packs currently offer a 30-day free, with a price ranging between £8.99 to £17.99 a month. Cisco also plans to expand the service to more devices and more European countries throughout 2017.
