World Wide Technology is collaborating with Cisco, Intel and Red Hat to launch a new facility for validating full stack Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV) solutions.
The three companies are to contribute advanced cloud, networking and DevOps technologies to WWT’s existing Advanced Technology Centre (ATC). This will create a facility where service providers can reduce the time, cost and risk associated with validating NFV solutions.
WWT delivers on-demand Lab as-a-Service (LaaS), enables any business, despite location, to remotely and securely tap into WWT’s technology ecosystem for full-scale automated testing, demos, training & sandboxing of NFV.
NFV delivers complex technologies that require expertise in infrastructure, orchestration, applications, virtualisation and automation. The connection of these elements can slow down the time it takes to create effective NFV solutions.
WWT claims that demonstrations have shown that ATC is expected to validate NFV solutions four times faster with a reduction speed down from 6-12 months to 90 days which could reduce overall costs by 30 percent.

WWT has simplified the validation process with the use of latest tools to enable the qualifying, testing and running of a complete NFV solution that can be packaged together for customer use.
After this, a customer’s design can be directly transferred to one of WWT’s supply chain facilities for immediate implementation.
Cisco is to use the collaboration to create solutions on open network architectures and to enable interoperability among vendors, while Intel says transforming communications with NFV enables service providers to build agile, elastic network to meet customer demands.
Darrell Jordan-Smith, Vice president of Global Telecommunication and ICT, Red Hat said: “CSPs are adopting open source-based NFV solutions for its promises of improved scalability, lower costs and greater flexibility.”
