There is a lot of different backup software products available for Windows, Mac OS and Linux and there are also archives, transfer protocols and version control systems which are also often used for backups.

Also, with many PC users becoming more are of the importance of backing up files, an insight into the best software suitable for this is necessary.

Based on this, CBR lists the best free backup software tools for you to decide from.

 

EaseUS Todo Backup

Up first is one of the most popular free data backup applications available, EaseUS Todo Backup, free software which offers a selection of features and is also extremely user-friendly.

The top features include efficient system backup and recovery, removing the need to reinstall OS or applications to get everything back.

The product also includes a back up data system, hard disk, and partition or individual files to a safe destination for disaster recovery.

The company also offers different capabilities to allow users to back up all changes that may have been made since the prior backup. The backups can be scheduled, with the ability to create emergency disks and also store your them across various locations.

 

BackUp Maker

BackUp Maker is designed only for Windows 10 and all older Windows operating systems. The system enables users to perform both full and partial backups of all files.

This software also allows users to backup data into several files, which is known as disk spanning. The addition of filtering capabilities are provided to give users easy access to files and to be able to easily restore documents using the same application.
A variety of media files, including CD’s and DVD’s can also be used as files for backup transfers. By using BackUp Maker it is easier to backup files from a hard drive automatically.

The system is used uniquely for file backup transfers of all sizes as a free service, although in order to receive technical support it is advised to purchase the paid version.

 

Comodo Backup

With Comodo Backup, users are able to transfer files to multiple locations such as online storage, external drive, network drive and CD/DVD discs.

backupIt is currently only available for Windows 7 and older operating systems and comes with a built-in step-by-step wizard to guide users through the backup procedure as needed.

All types of backups are available as well, including incremental and differential types which also come with a smart profiling tool that allows the categorising of files such as music, photos and videos so that only wanted files are backed up.

It is a reliable service which offers easy scheduling and high-speed download. The free version of the software provides 10GB of cloud storage, which is free for the first 90 days.

 

FileFort Backup

FileFort Bakup is a free and easy to use software that can be used to backup files to a cloud storage service, FTP server and all other locations.

This service supports a full backup, historical backup and incremental backup which includes data from a local hard drive, network folder or external drive which can all be backed up with a FileFort backup.

FileFort backupIt can be used in Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP as well as Mac OS X 10.4 and higher.

The supported Cloud storage services include Google Drive and Dropbox, making the backup service into an inexpensive online service.

Backups can also be encrypted and scheduled daily or weekly. An option to optionally run missed backups on a start-up is also provided.

AOMEI Backupper

AOMEI Backupper is a free file sync, backup, system recovery and cloning software designed for Windows operating systems versions 7 to 10.

It is delivered as a free standard edition, in which all backed up data, regardless of its type, can be saved to a local or external drive as well as a shared network folder.

The service also supports encrypting a backup with a password, receiving email notifications once backups have been completed and choosing between an exact backup and an intelligent sector backup.

Scheduling is also supported to enable users to choose whether to run a backup on one occasion only or consistently every day, week or month.

A feature called ‘Universal restore’ enables migration of an operating system to physical computers or virtual machines with dissimilar hardware.
