Sighs of relief all round – it seems that the draconian cuts in all IBM’s non-essential budgets is over judging by a story in this week’s Electronic News: the US trade weekly reports that the Communications Products division spent a cool 100 Gs on 2,200 leather briefcases with the IBM logo tastefully sewn into the lining to give away at last week’s International Switching Symposium, so the hard times must be over… or does it simply mean that someone over at Communications is just about to be offered a transfer to Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania (CI No 626)?
