Under the contract, EDB and Handelsbanken will work together to offer a unified platform for card issuance by the bank’s international branches, covering debit and credit cards for both the retail and corporate markets. Handelsbanken’s operations in Norway and Estonia will be the first two banks to use the new card services, and will migrate on to the new solution immediately.
EDB says its card services comprise a web-based solution for card administration, user support, settlement and reconciliation through the international card networks, together with operating services for the systems involved. Its card solutions can be supported by each country’s national infrastructure.
Gunnel Silven, manager business development card services at Handelsbanken said:
It is increasingly important for an international bank to be able to offer our branches and their customers good card solutions that easily could be adapted to different national needs, and also permit standardization of the bank’s common card solutions.
