Todd Bakar, head of Hambrecht & Quist’s computer hardware and interactive media department says the consolidation of computer companies has caused a power shift within the manufacturing sector, giving them more leverage with their vendors; that has shifted power away from (microprocessor) suppliers to computer companies and this shift will cause prices to fall and computer profits to go up, he said: he also predicted that IBM Corp would soon be displaced by Compaq Computer Corp as personal computer leader.
