HALIFAX PLACES ORDER WITH TIMEPLEX FOR LINK/2 FMS

By CBR Staff Writer

The Halifax Building Society has placed a UKP3m order with the Timeplex Ltd arm of Unisys Corp, based in Slough, Berkshire, for its Link/2 Facilities Management System: the equipment will be used to replace an analogue network with a digital network, which will connect more than 1,000 outlets and support some 1,100 cashpoint machines, as well as connecting the Society’s two data centres and separate headquarters via a triangulated network made up of alternately routed high capacity optical fibre MegaStreams; Timeplex claims that this network will be phased in without affecting customer services and is to be fully operational by February 1989.
