Halcyon Software Inc, Campbell, California has released VBase, its multi-user SQL database server, which runs under most Unixes and Windows 3.X, 95 and NT. Halcyon will have it up under Digital Unix and AIX by the end of the year, according to president Don Hsi. VBase includes full data recovery, transaction logging, record-level locking, SQL and an Open Data Base Connectivity interface. It also interfaces with the company’s recent Visual Basic on Unix, Vbix, release which enables Windows developers to run programs on Unix. VBase is priced from $1,000. Citibank, New York Life and Dow Chemical Co are running alpha and beta versions.
