Fujitsu Ltd’s Hal Computer Systems Inc this week ships its second-generation Sparc64-II 64-bit RISC in new HalStation 375 and 385 uniprocessor workstations aimed at mechanical and electrical design and Web server markets. The 161MHz Sparc64-II drives the Model 385 at 8.4 SPECint95, 13.6 SPECfp95. Like workstation versions of Digital Equipment Corp’s Turbo Lasers, the Hal systems take big memory – up to 3Gb. Pitched at Sun’s Ultra 170E and 200E, they run Hal’s Sparc64/OS 2.4.6 implementation of SunSoft Inc’s Solaris 2.4 with 64-bit extensions; $16,000 buys a 141MHz Model 375 unit 64Mb, 2Gb disk, Fujitsu AG-10E graphics option and 20 screen at 7.43 SPECint95 and 12.2 SPECfp95; the 161MHz model is from $19,500.
