HACKER PROBLEMS ON PUBLIC TELEPHONE EXCHANGES

Underlining the dangers highlighted in that Pacific Bell internal memo about the havoc that can be wreaked by hackers who log into public telephone exchanges (CI No 980), the New York Times reveals that the memo got into its hands after it had been picked up by a hacker who intercepted a facsimile message going between two PacBell offices.
