Hewlett-Packard Co cut prices on three DeskJet printers by 17% to 22% and on three DeskWriters for Macintosh by 9% to 18%, as well as adding PostScript Level 2 software for the HP DeskWriter 550C – whose price falls 18 percent to $720 – and a new range of low-cost plain-paper facsimile machines: the PostScript software product, is $250; the DeskJet 500, 500C and 550C now sell at $365, $485 and $720 respectively; the DeskWriter and DeskWriter C are now $365 and $485 respectively; the new inkjet fax machines, the FAX-900 and FAX-950 will both replace and be cheaper than the FAX-200 and FAX-310 this winter; prices have yet to be set; the old ones cost $1,180 and $1,600.
