Menlo Park, California-based Gupta Technologies Inc is shipping SQL link software, providing SQLWindows users with access to data held in IBM Corp’s OS/2 Extended Edition Database Manger database server. Gupta’s SQLWindows product currently operates with IBM DB2 databases running on 370-type mainframes, and earlier this year the company said that it was developing a connection to the built-in database of the AS/400. The company has also announced a five-user version of its SQLBase Server for MS-DOS and OS/2. This is available now in the US for $1,000, and is targeted at departmental local area network customers that are about to make the transition to a client-server architecture. A five-user OS/2 version of SQLBase Server is scheduled to be available later in the current quarter. SQLWindows applications will be able to connect to OS/2 Extended Edition Database Manager via Gupta’s SQLGateway/Database Manager. A single gateway on a network will enable multiple SQLWindows clients to access data contained in OS/2 Extended Edition Database Manager. SQLGateway/Database Manager is available now for $1,000.
