ComponentOne, a supplier of GUI components for Microsoft .NET languages, has announced it will offer a Microsoft Outlook-like scheduling control for Microsoft Windows Presentation Foundation, the user interface feature of Vista that was formerly code-named Avalon.
Enabling developers to add scheduling controls for new applications developed for the Vista platform, it will provide a calendar view plus drag and drop capabilities while supporting the animation and 3D effects provided by Vista.
The announcement is first sign that with Vista, history will repeat itself again with the blooming of a third party widgets market whose roots date back to the VBX controls of the Windows 3.0 era of 10 15 years ago.
It will be released at the time when Microsoft formally releases the WinFX APIs for Vista.
