The job cuts in GTE Corp’s plan by 1992 (CI No 1,055) amount to 25% of the company’s 28,000 strong workforce in its local telephone operations and are part of the company’s previously announced reorganisation and will have to involve lay-offs as well as the current early retirement programme and attrition.
