GTE Corp excluded PABXs from the telecommunications equipment that it put into its 20%-retained joint venture with Siemens AG, and has instead picked Fujitsu America as its partner for the business and agreed to sell it an 80% stake in its $100m-a-year GTE Business Systems Division in Tempe, Arizona to create Fujitsu GTE Business Systems for which Fujitsu will have manufacturing responsibility while GTE handles the marketing; the venture will hold about 10% of the US market, but Fujitsu Business Communications will continue to sell a separate line of systems in the US.
