GTE CLAIMS 22GHz LASERSTANDARDS

Scientists at GTE Laboratories in Waltham, Massachusetts are claiming a world record for a new laser that switches on and off at 22GHz. The laser could theoretically transmit 200 to 400 video signals over a single optical fibre. The speed increase came from decreasing the width of the light-emitting region.
